Quality

Lab-certified 5%+ pure white powder.

Ingredients: 5% Spermidine Trihydrochloride, 95% microcrystalline cellulose. Gluten free.

Spermidine is currently one of the only supplements we sell in less than 95% purity. The reason for this is that dosing of pure Spermidine would be very difficult and that pure Spermidine is extremely expensive. The only thing added to Spermidine is pure cellulose, which essentially is only fibre.

Learn more about Spermidine

What is Spermidine?

Spermidine is a polyamine compound (C7H19N3) found in ribosomes and living tissues and boasting various metabolic functions within organisms. It was originally isolated from semen.

Good dietary sources of spermidine are aged cheese, mushrooms, soy products, legumes, corn, and whole grains. Spermidine is plentiful in a Mediterranean diet.

The spermidine content in human seminal plasma varies between approx. 15 and 50mg/L (avg. 31 mg/L).

How does Spermidine work?

Spermidine has been reported to protect the heart from aging and prolong the lifespan of mice. In humans, it was correlated with lower blood pressure.

It also was found to reduce the amount of aging in yeast, flies, worms, and human immune cells by inducing autophagy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Spermidine?

Spermidine is a naturally occurring polyamine compound found in foods like wheat germ, soy, and some fruits. It is essential for cellular growth and renewal and plays a key role in promoting autophagy, the body’s natural process of cleaning out damaged cells.

What does Spermidine do?

Spermidine supports healthy aging by stimulating autophagy, which helps remove damaged cells and rejuvenate the body at a cellular level. It is also associated with benefits such as improved brain health, cardiovascular support, and enhanced skin and hair vitality.

What is autophagy?

Autophagy is the body’s natural process of cleaning out damaged cells and recycling cellular components. It plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular health, preventing the buildup of harmful waste, and promoting longevity. Spermidine is known to enhance autophagy, supporting the body’s natural renewal processes.

How does Spermidine support autophagy?

Spermidine supports autophagy by activating the body’s natural cellular renewal process. Autophagy is the mechanism by which cells break down and recycle damaged components, removing harmful waste and rejuvenating themselves. By promoting autophagy, spermidine helps maintain cellular health, improve mitochondrial function, and protect against age-related deterioration.

What foods have Spermidine?

Spermidine is naturally present in:

  • Wheat germ (the richest source),
  • Soybeans and natto,
  • Mushrooms,
  • Broccoli,
  • Green peas,
  • Aged cheese.

While these foods provide small amounts, supplementation can help achieve higher levels for optimal benefits.

Is Spermidine safe?

Yes, spermidine is generally considered safe when taken within the recommended dosage. It is a naturally occurring compound found in many foods, and scientific studies have shown it to be well-tolerated. However, as with any supplement, consult your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have specific medical conditions.

How much Spermidine should I take?

The recommended daily dose of spermidine is up to 0.1g, which is equivalent to 5 mg of pure spermidine. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

Hansen Supplements includes a free measuring spoon with your purchase:

  • A 0.1ml spoon (for 5% spermidine) holds 0.06g of the product, equivalent to 3 mg of pure spermidine.
  • The larger spoon included with other products holds 0.3g, equivalent to 15 mg of pure spermidine.

For even greater accuracy, you can use our precision scale, available for purchase here. Always follow the product label instructions, and consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice.

When should I take Spermidine?

Spermidine can be taken at any time of the day. However, many users prefer taking it with a meal to aid digestion and absorption. If using multiple supplements, consider spacing them throughout the day for optimal effect.

When should I start taking Spermidine?

Spermidine supplementation can be beneficial at any age, but it is particularly useful for those looking to support healthy aging, improve cellular function, or boost overall vitality. If you are over 30, when autophagy begins to slow down, incorporating spermidine into your routine may help maintain optimal cellular health.

How should I store Spermidine?

Spermidine should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve its potency. For long-term storage, refrigeration is recommended but not always necessary. Always ensure the container is tightly sealed to prevent moisture exposure.

How long does it take for Spermidine to start working?

The effects of spermidine, particularly those related to cellular renewal and autophagy, may take several weeks to months of consistent use. While immediate effects like improved energy or focus may be noticed sooner, long-term benefits such as better skin health or cellular rejuvenation often require sustained supplementation.
